Petting Zoo in Scipio

On our way to California in February we stopped to get gas in a little town named Scipio. When I handed the clerk my money, I noticed hay in her hair. "I was just out feeding my Zebra.", was her reply when I informed her of the hay. We just had to see the Zebra. A zebra was not all we were able to see, they had ponies, llamas, and a few ostrich.
Animals love Alexander, the pony tried to steal his jacket and one of the ostriches poked him in the head. Jason and I could not stop laughing, but Alexander was not amused. It was by far the most memorable stops on the way.

Black belt for the day

Jaxon was the honorary black belt in class this week. He was able to carry something that weighed more than he did all the way across the mat. Master Andersen was very surprised and proud so he let Jaxon wear a black belt for the rest of class. All of the students had to call Jaxon, Mr. Fox. It was a very cool day at Karate.

I am not sure what it is about my boys kissing piggies. I just came across these old pictures of Jaxon kissing Nana's pig in Monterey. The picture of Dayne was taken this May in Utah. It is fun to see the similarities and differences in the boys. One thing is the same with all 3 of our boys, they all have very stinky piggies. But, we love each and every one!

Bug Camp

Some of our very best friends Emmye and Kolton put on a Bug Camp this week. All of our boys were so excited to be able to go. It was a very fun camp. The boys looked for bugs, had story time, made caterpillars and ate yummy treats. They are already asking when the next Bug Camp will be. Great job Smith Family!

August 5th Alexander turned 6 years old! He took this picture of himself. I love it because he is usually pretty serious but this day he was acting silly. He is such a complex little soul. He is so smart and funny, caring and loving. We are so blessed to have him in our family. He brings such a warm light into our home and hearts. The last 6 years have just flown by, but we have tried to enjoy every minute we have with our "baby Alex". Happy Birthday Buddy, Mom and Dad love you so much.

2 teeth gone!

Alexander has lost 2 teeth in the last 2 months. He already has 2 "grown up" teeth in the place where the baby teeth came out. I have no pictures of him with holes in his mouth. I am sure I will in the future when the top teeth come out. But for now this is the best one we have.

The story of how they came out is a fun one. He wanted to do something exciting to pull them out so we tried a few experiments.

1-tying the tooth to an electric train - failed

2-tying the tooth to a race car on an electric track - failed

3-tying the tooth to a ball and sending it through the pitching machine - failed

4 -tying the tooth to his finger while he was playing basketball - failed

5-tying the tooth to his big toe while he was watching a movie and not paying attention then making him jump off the chair quickly - SUCCESS

The tooth came out and the tooth fairy visited our house that evening.

Jason turned 40 on August 1st! Alexander and Jaxon were so excited to make Jason a special crown that he could wear on his special day. They also helped make his favorite cupcakes.

Kayvon and Josh came up that night with an awesome dinner.

We all love Jason so much and were so happy to spend his special day with him. He is an amazing husband, father and friend.

Alexander and Jaxon love to see the Bee. His name is actually Bumble, which we learned when he signed the boys hats. Dayne is NOT a fan of Bumble. He is happier when the giant bee is far away.

Water Day at the Gallivan

Radio Disney recently sponsored a Water Day at the Gallivan Center. With the temperature being close to 100 the idea of cooling off with some water sounded great.

The big boys, Alexander, Jaxon and Jason, loved the free water guns. Dayne enjoyed the free frozen yogurt pops, he even ate Alexander's.

My favorite part was the fire engine spraying the children. I remember reading a Sesame Street book when I was young where the children ran in the spray of water from the hose of the fire engine. It was very exciting for me to finally be able to do it and being with my family made it that much better. Seeing my boys faces light up when they saw the water was priceless.

Teddy Bear Sleepover

The main library recently had a teddy bear sleepover. This is when you take your stuffed animal to the library on Friday night and come back Saturday morning to pick it up. On Saturday, the library had juice and doughnuts for the children. They also had a slide show of all the fun things the animals did during the night. It was such a fun activity.

Alexander took his Fox named Hickory Mirrorhead. Jaxon took baseball George and Dayne brought his little Fox named (by Alex) Rodman Mirrorhead.

All of the Foxes, human and stuffed had a blast during this fabulous library event.

The library had a big summer reading kick off party at Wheeler Farm this year. It was such a great party. We are so fortunate to have such amazing public libraries here in Utah.

Fine Arts Museum

I took the boys to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. They had a great time and were very well behaved. I gave them a challenge to count things of their choice. Alexander wanted to count skulls, he found 8! Jaxon's favorite thing was the Samurai. Dayne enjoyed it all.

I am so lucky to have 3 boys to help wash the car. At least the bottom half of our car is super clean now. As they grow the top will eventually be cleaned too! They did a great job.

Rainy Day Ball Game

I tried to talk the boys out of going to the baseball game because it was raining. They were not deterred. "We have rain coats from Nana, so we won't get wet."

I am really glad they were so persistent because we had a great time. The rain stopped just long enough for 9 innings.

We ran into a friend of mine, Scotty. His cousin was pitching for the opposing team. Scotty offered to let us sit in the extra seats next to him. They were much better than our seats so we took him up on the offer. This turned out to be a very good thing, when he caught a ball for Jaxon. Alexander already had a ball from one of the players. You know how things have to be even. Because the team won, we even received free cherry lime-aids. It was a great time at the ball park.

Alexander and Jaxon helped Mema work in her yard. All 3 boys, including Dayne, wanted to help mow the lawn. Alex was the only one strong enough to push the mower. Maybe next summer Jaxon will be able to do it.

Alexander's first "big" ride with Dad. The wild mouse, it even scares the adults. He was so brave. It helped that his buddy Kolton was going on with his Dad too.

Jaxon's consolation prize for being "too small" to ride the "big" ride. He was very upset that he could not ride the wild mouse. He still needs to grow about 8 inches. "But Mom, I eat all my vegetables!" This was his sad comment when he was told he was too short.

What a fun day! The boys loved riding all the rides and we loved watching the joy and happiness all over their faces.

We love going to the park! We are so lucky to have some really great parks so close to our house. There is only one problem, all the parks are downhill. We can walk to the parks, but we have to get a ride home.

We all love going to the big library downtown. There is so much to see and do. The boys love playing Harry Potter on the computer and finding books to read. They also love to ride the glass elevators. We are lucky to have such an amazing library so close to us.

We went to Granstville for Zack's birthday. Alexander and Jaxon love playing with Zack. They played outside all afternoon and had such a great time. These boys play so well together. We are so lucky to have such great cousins.

All of our boys love to go to Granstville to play with their cousins. They really love playing with Haylie. She is always so cute with them. I used to play with her when she was a baby and now it is fun to watch her play with my babies.

Whenever we work on letters with Alexander and get to the letter "H" he always reminds me that "H is for Haylie"

We are so thankful for her and sure do love our Haylie!

Joining the Force

Dayne has officially joined the "Force". Alexander and Jaxon love playing Star Wars with their light sabers and now so does Dayne.

Alexander aka. Luke Skywalker, was kind enough to give "Yoda" aka Dayne his blue light saber to play with. The Force is with these Fox boys. They love to play together. We love them.
